Sauvignon Blanc and Fume Blanc both come from the Sauvignon Blanc grapes. In the 1960s, Robert Mondavi coined the term Fume Blanc when he had difficulty selling his Sauvignon Blanc. Today it often refers to a Sauvignon Blanc that has been aged in oak barrels which gives the wine a distinctive smokey/oak flavor.

Chablis vs Chardonnay
Chablis and Chardonnay are both made from the chardonnay grape. A Chablis must be grown in the Chablis area of France. Chardonnay can be grown anywhere but must be made from the specific chardonnay grape.
